I had big plans for today’s newsletter.
“I’ll finish it tomorrow,” I told myself last night as I worked on it at 10:00 p.m., my energy fading fast. “It’ll be easy,” I fibbed.
I should have known better - I’ve met me! I didn’t give myself enough time to do the quality of post I wanted, so here is me, pivoting.

Little pivot.
I’ve never fancied myself a perfectionist. Believe me, if you saw my kitchen counter, you would know I am not a neat freak! However, neatness aside, I do have the kind of perfectionism that makes it hard to complete projects. I want it to be just right, and I get stuck trying to force it. Then I run out of time, begin to stress, and either suffer analysis paralysis or flee to the next thing.
Stress is not good for the brain, nor for productivity. Yes, a little bit of stress can be a positive trigger to get started on a task, but too much stress taxes my brain. I lose my train of thought, I get distracted, and sometimes even become a dizzy staring at the computer screen. Not good. I’m pivoting today to allow for flexibility in my big plan for today’s newsletter, and to give my brain a rest. Ahhh.
Big Pivot
(Don’t worry, in-person Grace Notes singers, this is old news to you. 💜 )
Our merry band of mischievous music-makers began singing together in 2018. We weathered a global pandemic on Zoom, laughing all the way, and never stopped. Recently, government budget cuts affected our funding, and we are searching for new ways to continue all the good that is happening at Grace Notes Community Singers.
The BIG PIVOT involved moving to Substack! We began experimenting with ideas on ways to spread the joy and keep Grace Notes alive through weekly in-person meetings here in San Antonio. That has been our biggest priority. However, we know that not everyone is able or has the desire to come and sing with us in person. I hope that Substack will be a means to explore online community as well as support in-person choir-style rehearsals here in San Antonio.
Stay “tuned” for applicable, engaging content for caregivers and their loved ones living with dementia over the next few weeks as we unroll some new programming!
